Last week, Deputy Director Georgina Kiss-Kozma attended the 17th conference of the European Sociological Association in Warsaw, entitled Strengthening Democracies: Social Action, Solidarity, and Sustainable Futures.
Georgina Kiss-Kozma introduced her research on how digital media is transforming young people’s relationship strategies and plans to start a family.
Her presentation focused on the question of how digital media is reshaping young people’s perceptions of relationships and influencing their decisions. Today, the digital environment means much more than online dating: it also affects how we perceive the choices available to us, what we expect from relationships, and how we think about commitment.
Georgina’s latest research also highlights that, by shaping how we envision our own future and the future of our country, digital culture can have a significant influence on plans to start a family.
We are delighted that the Deputy Director of the Youth Research Institute had the opportunity to present her work to the ESA Sociology of Families and Intimate Lives Research Network, and to compare, together with researchers from other countries, similar and different processes emerging in diverse social and cultural contexts
