Youth Research Institute Deputy Director Georgina Kiss-Kozma PhD presented her research on community and loneliness at a conference organised by Queen’s University Belfast and the European Sociological Association (ESA), Sociology of Emotions Research Network (RN11).

The presentation explored the central question of whether today’s youth are truly more lonely than previous generations, and how the role of communities is changing in the digital age.

The ESA is a nonprofit, Europe-wide academic association with around 3,000 members. It organises or supports over forty events annually and publishes two scientific journals. Among its key objectives are promoting research and actively supporting scientific dialogue. It also seeks to amplify the voice of social sciences in European affairs and plays a key role in organising European-level social debates and shaping the agenda.
